Report on Bible Study of Dental Students

Greeting from A국.  Today I want to report that the Bible study of dental students where I teach.  After I returned in Jan 2009 from my one year furlough, then I start teaching them from Jan to July of 2009.  They are graduating students this year.  I started this Bible study class in early May.  In the first meeting 15 students attended out of 16 student member class.  Just one student could not attend.  The reason all of them attend is because C국 is a “face-saving culture”.  And they come because I as their teacher asked them so they are compelled to come.  Since the second meeting, 5 to 6 dental students plus two of my electrical engineer students from my next door neighbor come.  I teach them from the book of Mark.  Who is Jesus and how powerful Jesus, as the Son of God.  One week before the final exam, 13 students attended.  It was a surprise. I was expecting two or three since the exam was next week.  Tina interpreted that they wanted my favor for the final exam.  I won’t favor anybody.

Just one student passed my exam and all 15 had to retake my exam.  They wanted to come to the Bible study the day before the re-exam and I told them not to come.  They need to stay home to study.  After the second exam, I report all the score to the academic affair office.  I thought I was not going to see them anymore.  The first Friday after the lecture and final exam was over, I thought I was finish with them.  One thing surprising happened, the student named P.H. called me on the following Friday and they wanted to come to the Bible study that night.  The five of them showed up.  I reflected on what happened to them.  Who gave those students the desire to come back for the Bible study?  Probably the Holy spirit who give them the desire to come to study the Bible.  They might also want to come to learn English some more but my point is to teach them the Bible and Christ.  Since then, the six of them plus two electrical engineer student continue to come and I teach them every Friday.  I finished the book of Mark chapter four and starting on chapter five.  Last Friday, I teach them the hymn Amazing Grace and the background story.  The students are not that much moved in their heart but I was very moved and I have tear in my eyes. 

Now I’m starting a new class at the dental school in the University.  This time the class has 50 students.  I have not invite them to the Bible study yet.  As I’m more acquainted with them, I will invite them to the Bible study.

The students that come to the Bible study are K.B, P.H, S.S, C.B, R, N.V, D.C and the electrical enginerring students are M.S and H.P.  I ask you to pray that these students I’m teaching that they will become the true disciple of Christ.
