“Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a grateful trip
That started from this LAX port
Aboard this Aeroflot plane.”
“The mate was a mighty traveling woman,
The sister brave and sure.
two passengers set flight that day
For a three city tour, a three city tour.”
~Sung to Gilligan’s Island tune
Chickens, eggs, tapestry project, gospel film, University Dean, English camp, toilet project… what do these have in common? Building of G*d’s Kingdom! The stories I got to hear of what our Father is doing were such a blessing. Stories like how one tapestry project has allowed this worker to share the gospel narrative to few people which then turned into showing of a film that the dean of University got to see then which became a requirement for all? (perhaps many) of the students at the school. Isn’t He amazing?
Bishkek: Capital
This is my 4th year in a row in Kyrgyzstan. Every year I go back, there is much progress in the country, especially the airport where they now have nice carts with working wheels and even a baggage carousel! But the thing that hasn’t changed is the overly zealous taxi drivers/porters/and middleman who vies for your business. Annoying but what can you do.
Talas:
We stayed with the Kim family who had recently arrived in the country, 3 boys and a girl, ages 8 to 13. We had lots of fun with kids, playing card games etc. and of course we had ministry time as well. One of the boys especially was amazed and thankful that adults who are older/similar age to his parents played games with them. Another boy commented how this was the best week of his life!
Pr*y for the family to adjust well to living in this country and language learning.
Osh:
The 21 kids who attended were quite international: Swiss German, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Romania, Korea, Canadian-American, British-Swedish, Kyrgyz girl adopted by British-Finish family. There is a newly started MK/International school called OAK. Please pr*y for more teachers to go and teach.
Jalal-Abad:
It was like homecoming for us, well especially for my sister who used to live in the city. It was heartening to hear that the children were once again pr*ying that we would come back this year for VBS. Because we know the children in this city, there was much different dynamics ministering to them versus other cities.
Of course ministering to 36 children total was so much fun. So many parents came up to us to express gratitude for us being there for their children. And our goal was to encourage these workers so that they can stay the course in the work and place He has called them to. And blessing these precious children through VBS was just a small part He has allowed me once again this summer. Were it not for your partnership, it would not have been possible! Thanks so much!!
Blessings,
Sunhee
