Greetings to you from sunny Kyrgyzstan!

The drive down to Talas was fraught with road blocks… heard of cows, sheep, and horses.  But the most attention-grabbing part of the roadblock was one of the shepherds. He was mounted on a horse talking on a cell phone. Not that I’ve seen many shepherds in my life but somehow the image of a shepherd on a cell phone was out of the ordinary for me.

Something else was out of the ordinary in the city of Talas. We met few other like-minded foreign workers serving here in this small city. And it was truly a joy to meet a Japanese M worker and another single woman who is a short-termer from Okinawa. From a country that has less than .5 percent followers, to see such dedicated family and a single woman were encouraging. Apparently, Japanese nationals do not need a visa to live here in Kyrgyzstan.

Tatsuo (sp?) shared his testimony with us on Sunday morning and he started off with apologies for the sins of his nation against Korea. It’s not the first time I’ve had a Japanese believer apologize to me regarding the harsh history. It’s such a strange feeling each time. I was truly blessed by what he had to share with us. Even as he spoke in limited English, I could tell that he was deeply a man after His own heart!

We didn’t get to meet his wife and children, boy (6) and a little girl. But please be in p*ayer for the Nozumo, because he has been traumatized by school kids and is having hard time socializing with others. P*ay that he will be able to speak the language and become comfortable in socializing with local children as well as other foreigners.

P*ay also for Tatsuo as he teaches Japanese to his students. He has decided to stop his lessons each time the call to p*ayer is announced on the loud speakers and p*ay to our Heavenly Father for his students. P*ay for opportunities to share the gospel with his students.

We are finished with VBS #1 and 2 more to go!! Thanks so much for journeying with us in p*ayer. We had a wonderful time here with the Kim family.

Blessings,

Sunhee

* Remember… on a sunny day p*ay for Sunhee J
